4 cups whole milk or your preferred milk ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate, chopped 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder 3 tbsp sugar adjust to taste 1 tsp vanilla extract 4 oz bourbon whiskey, or spiced rum (1 oz per serving) Whipped cream, marshmallows, or chocolate shavings for garnish
In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until warm but not boiling.
Whisk in the cocoa powder and sugar until fully dissolved.
Add the chocolate chips and stir until melted and the mixture is smooth.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour 1 oz of your chosen spirit into each mug.
Divide the hot chocolate evenly among the mugs and stir gently.
Top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a sprinkle of chocolate shavings.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
