Ingredients

  • 2 cups roasted unsalted peanuts
  • 1–2 tablespoons neutral oil e.g., peanut oil or vegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup optional, for sweetness

Instructions

  • Add peanuts to a food processor. Blend for 1 minute. Scrape down the sides.
  • Blend again for 2–3 more minutes until smooth, adding oil 1 tablespoon at a time if needed to reach your preferred consistency.
  • Add salt and sweetener (if using). Blend again briefly to combine.
  • Add more salt, oil, or sweetener if desired.
  • Transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

Notes

- For crunchy peanut butter, reserve ¼ cup of peanuts, chop roughly, and stir them in at the end.
- Always store homemade peanut butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Homemade peanut butter tends to separate. You can:
  • Use a butter knife or small spatula to stir the oil back into the solids until smooth again.
  • Store the jar upside down (lid tightly sealed) to help the oil redistribute naturally over time.
  • Reblend it if needed.
