For the Filling
- 5 medium apples Granny Smith or Fuji, peeled and sliced
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
For the Crumble Topping
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 6 tbsp cold unsalted butter cut into small cubes
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
In a mixing bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour. Transfer to a greased 8-inch baking dish.
In another bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add cold butter and use your fingertips or a pastry cutter to blend until crumbly.
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the apples are bubbly.
Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
- Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor.
- You can swap butter with plant-based margarine for a vegan version.
- Add chopped nuts (like pecans or walnuts) to the topping for extra crunch.
- Perfect make-ahead dessert.
