For the filling:
- 6 medium apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, peeled and sliced
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
For the crisp topping:
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Transfer to a greased 8x8-inch baking dish.
In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add cubed butter and mix using a pastry cutter or fingers until crumbly.
Sprinkle topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the apples are bubbling.
Let it cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!
